Behind the excitement and luxury of the dishes on the table during Ramadan arrived in a number of countries, the UN even noted that 1 million refugees in Palestine lacked food during the fasting month.

Quoted from the page middleeastmonitor.com, Wednesday (05/15/2019), this was revealed by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) that many Palestinian Muslims lack food.

"When Muslims around the world are fasting in the holy month of Ramadan, it is often marked by the festive nature of Iftarnya, while in Gaza, more than half the population relies on food aid from the international."

Even so, the UNRWA continues to gather assistance from the international community to deal with this problem.

It is not only a food problem, they also cannot fulfill other basic needs for life.

At present there are more than one million people who need emergency food assistance without which they cannot pass day after day.

Matthias Schmale, Director of Operations at UNRWA in Gaza, said: "This is an almost ten-fold increase caused by the blockade that led to the closure of the Gaza border and the impact of the disaster on the local economy, successive conflicts which brought down the entire environment and the internal Palestinian political crisis ongoing."

A report issued by the United Nations in 2017 warned that the Gaza Strip, Palestine would be "uninhabitable" by 2020.

The unemployment rate in Gaza rose to 52 percent last year, with more than one million residents dependent on UNRWA quarterly feeding.

Founded in 1949, UNRWA provided critical assistance to Palestinian refugees in the blockaded Gaza Strip.

Last year, the US State Department said Washington would "no longer fund" UNRWA.

In fact, the United States is the biggest contributor to UNRWA, which provides US $ 350 million per year - about a quarter of the agency's overall budget.

According to information from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, deadly attacks do occur every week on the border.

Not only the death toll, the Palestinian Ministry of Health also noted there were 30 people who were reported to have suffered injuries.

The weekly protest that began on March 30, 2018 has killed hundreds of Palestinians. They demanded rights to their homes which were forcibly seized by Israel in the past.

Last week, Friday, May 3, 2019, at least four Palestinians were reportedly killed in a demonstration on the Gaza border.

Not only Palestinians, an Israeli official also said that two of his soldiers also lost their lives.

Palestinians have participated in demonstrations along the Gaza border for more than a year.

At least 268 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since protests began in March 2018, the majority were killed along the Gaza border, Palestine.
